The CFX looks like a standard cooler, but is a powerful fridge/freezer – no messy ice required while you’re out four-wheeling!
ELKHART, Ind. – March 9, 2016 – When you’re out four-wheeling in the blazing sun, do you ever fantasize about cracking open a frosty cold drink, breaking out the fresh chilled lunchmeat or even digging into some ice cream?
At this year’s Easter Jeep Safari, in Moab, Utah, Dometic Corporation will be showcasing and selling an exciting innovation for outdoor enthusiasts: The award-winning Dometic CFX Series of Portable Refrigerators/Freezers. Dometic will be exhibiting the entire CFX range on Thursday and Friday, March 24-25, in the middle of the nine-day event, which runs from March 19-27.
The CFX is true mobile cooling – with no ice required. It looks like a standard cooler, but is actually a powerful refrigerator/freezer. Just power with 12V DC, and enjoy refrigerated or frozen food and drinks while you’re out four-wheeling, or stopping for a break to take in the scenery. The rugged CFX keeps food and drinks as cold as your fridge at home, even in scorching hot weather.
At the Easter Jeep Safari’s vendor and information area, located at the Spanish Trail Arena, south of Moab on Highway 191, event participants can purchase a range of products, including the 35-liter CFX35, which can be used either as a fridge or freezer (depending on how you set the thermostat). Also for sale will be the higher-end CFX65DZ “dual-zone,” which has two compartments, one side for refrigeration and one for deep-freezing, for a total 61 liters of storage capacity.
“With the CFX, no ice is required, and there’s no watery mess to clean up afterwards – a perfect solution for four-wheeling,” said Derek Laninga, Dometic’s director of sales for retail products. “JPFreek readers may know the CFX from the blog’schronicles of the Africa Jeep Tour with a CFX-35US on board. The CFX offers sophisticated cooling, but is rugged enough for a pan-African Jeep adventure.”
The CFX is the winner of the 2015 “Best Overall Tailgate Product Award,” presented by Tailgater Magazine and the National Hardware Show. Dometic mobile cooling technology was originally designed for the Australian outback, where advanced cooling and rugged construction are top priorities. In fact, a 2015 fridge comparison conducted by 4WD Action Magazine, and testing done by an independent third party, confirmed that the Dometic CFX is the best value portable fridge available.
All CFX models come with a soft-touch digital thermostat. A quick-chill turbo function runs compressors at maximum performance until desired temperatures are reached, from -8ºF to 50ºF. CFX units can run on 120V AC, 12V DC or 24V DC power. Once the temperature is reached, the CFX draws just 1 amp of power consumption to maintain the temperature. The thermostat memory retains preset temperatures even after being turned off.
Rugged construction includes heavy-duty stainless steel hinges and strong latches, drop-down spring-loaded handles, removable baskets, detachable and reversible lids, a USB port for charging small electronic devices and a separate dairy compartment. Both AC and DC power cords are also included.
CFX models come with an optional freestanding or wall-mounted CFX Wireless Display, to allow owners to monitor and control their CFX unit from up to 49 feet away – providing peace of mind if the owner wants to spend time away from the CFX unit or leave it outdoors. Easy-touch buttons allow users to set cooling temperature. The display is equipped with an alarm that can sound an alert when the CFX’s internal temperature increases above the desired level. The Wireless Display works on all models except for the NEW CFX-95DZUS, which can be remotely monitored and controlled by a mobile app (available for Android and iOS).
At Moab, Dometic will also be selling custom-fit durable padded covers for the CFX. The insulated covers are designed with openings to allow owners to easily reach controls to adjust temperature, turn the unit on/off or access the refrigerated compartments. RV owners attending the Safari will also want to check out Dometic’s easy-to-install slides for RV storage compartments, which hold the CFX in place while driving. Limited quantities available.
Besides the CFX, Safari attendees can also see and buy Dometic’s line of CF portable electric coolers, Avalanche Heavy-Duty Performance Coolers and a range of portable toilets. RV owners should be sure to have a look at Dometic Milenco’s world-class towing and blindspot mirrors.
At the booth, Dometic will be accepting credit cards for on-the-spot purchases or for drop-ship orders. Dometic products are also available at Amazon.com, CampingWorld.com or from most any RV dealership.
The Easter Jeep Safari is an annual event hosted by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers Off-road Club, where four-wheelers come to challenge the rough terrain of the Moab area backcountry.
